The Great XIR And Friends 1on1 Tournament
As announced some time ago we will start our 1on1
tournament this week. We already put all players who
were interested in this tournament into our flowchart on
random positions.
We are playing a standard 32 players double elimination
setup as used on esports tournaments but also billiard or
bowling for instance... Here's an example chart to show
you how exactly the tournament works:
http://www.xanton.net/downloads/32_Players_DE.pdf
Actually to fill the chart to it's maximum number of 32
playing positions we had to place jokers/wildcards. Having
a "joker" as opponent is a guaranteed win.
Winners of the first match will proceed to the right side of
the chart. 1st match's losers to the left.
Here's our flowchart containing all current player positions:
http://mitglied.lycos.de/hbbernecker/Turnier.htm
Starting Monday, 5th of September you will have to
contact your oponent to schedule your match. We'll send
all participating players the password for our training server.
Once being there you'll have to vote for the gametype
"XIR 1on1 Tournament". As there's a custom voting option
installed you have to do the following:
To invoke the vote menu during a game (or if it just doesn't appear
after a map), use the hotkey (by default "scroll-lock" or "home"),
or type into the console: mutate ut2votemenu
On most of the german keybords the vote menu key is "Pos 1".
Here are the settings:
Same as on Duel Server but...
Time Limit: 10 mins
Frag Limit: 0 (infinite)
Server Address: 217.160.176.42:7777
Play 2 matches. For every win you earn 1 point.
If, after 2 matches the result is a draw (1:1), you
need to play a 3rd match to get a decision.
Take screenshots of all of your matches and post
them here. Bernhard (CommandFick) as our
tournament organizer will answer all further questions.
Round 1 (1st column of matches) is starting on Monday,
5th of September. When every match is played and
we've posted the results we will announce the start of
round 2.
Have a lot of fun and good luck warriors!
Tournament FAQ:

1. Map selection?? Who decides what maps we play and r they the exact same maps as whats on the duel server?? Its just I would love to have the Ring on it |
As it's normally two matches everyone of the players
can choose a map (1st match = 1st players favourite
map = 2nd match, 2nd players favourite map). If there's
a draw and the need of a 3rd, deciding match, you
can talk to your opponent to find a compromise or
even start voting. Server will randomly choose between
the two maps then.
Ah, not to forget: Maps are exactly the same
like on Duel Server - that's the rules...

2. In the event of a game crash in mid battle...what happens?? Does the person lose the game?? And also Sticky has some serious high ping probs lately too which wouldnt b a fair match if it was playing up...again....what happens then? |
As it's a friendly tournament I'm sure you'll all be
able to sort it out with your combatant. If you crash
in the middle of the game it would only be fair to
have a second try. If you crash again don't proceed
but contact me or Bernhard.
bountykilla wrote: |
and lastly...who do we need to get in touch with to get the password and is there a list of times or anything when ppl have schedueled matches for?? Coz I think me and Sticky wanna get straight to it..hehe |
Contact Bernhard (CommandFick) or me for the
password. We'll send you a pm then.
Would be nice if you post your appointment here
so everyone has a chance to see whether the
server is free. Don't schedule your match on
Thursdays between 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM GMT
(22:00 - 24:00 CET) as this is our regular training
time.

...so if i lose deliberately [...] then my odds could be in my favor? because the players that won seem to be the better in that tournament (maybe) so if i have a better chance in the lossing side area then more likely for me to go into the final then? |
Actually not. As you might have noticed loser's bracket
has twice as much match positions as the winner's bracket.
Reason for this is: every single winner also has to
play one corresponding losers of the winner bracket to
advance. So life is much harder at the loser's bracket...
I'd suggest to everyone: Just give your best!

Hehe, I guess one of the jokers needs
replacement. Bernhard, would you roll
the dice once more?

Actually not, as there are still player slots
filled with "jokers" we could put you in if
you are interested.
