hi bjoern have you loaded new things on to the server

i am getting this error regular

general protection fault

happens 2 -3 times an hour on loading maps......

Only thing newly installed on Rumble
is that UT2Vote mutator. Did you try
to purge your cache?

i have formatted 5 times reinstalled the game about 7 times...

cleared my cache.. and done other things to my pc
which i wont mention here Razz

every other may my game crashes... with this error

only seems to happen on xir server...

and tonight anti tcc kicked me for

invalid display settings... or something...

it was about render settings anyway...

are you sure it isnt the server or something loaded on there...

because its really doing my head in now..

Well Dave, that sux.

The "General protection fault" error seems to be a big prob for some UT users (just look at the Atari forum). IMHO its the latest patch which brings the GPF to some users. I've got the latest (3355?) patch installed and has nearly no problems with it.

If AntiTCC kicks you, look at the AntiTCC.log file in your UT folder (log folder) - it might help to figure it out.

Otherwise I would update UT only to the previous patch (before 3355) and test it out. Might work. As I understand, there is a beta patch in the works right now... but I have no info on that right now.

In case u wana also try the beta patch u can get it here : http://unreal.epicgames.com/files/ut2004-winpatch3362BETA.exe ...and its the 3362 v.
but i dont think that should be ur problem and also with beta patch u can get kicked from some server cos it isnt supported yet.
Maybe its one of ur hardware parts that UT2k4 doesent support like vid. card or something...maybe u need latest drivers for it.

I think that won't have anything to do with your
crash problen. I've also seen in logfiles you were
using version 3339 yesterday but you also had tried
the latest official version 3355 a few days before.

Any differences between the versions?
Did you try Duel server aswell? Answering that
would help me a lot figuring out what might be
the reason for your probs...

However let's try it step by step. One thing
I recently changed was updating utcomp 16
to 16a. I put it back to 16 now.

So just please just try again. Confused

1st thing 1st hehe

alex,

i have tried all that going up and down through patches...
i have formatted about 6 times and installed a new game everytime..
i have updated every driver i can think of... gfx pc.. the lot.. still same thing

it seems to crash right at the start... while it plays the entry wav..
you know the bon jovi thing.. at the same place every time

purger Smile i dont think i want to try a beta patch just yet lol... prolly be even worst...

i think it could be utcomp as you say...
a few weeks ago i did turn all my render settings down
for better performance... as sometimes my comp seems to just
go really lazy and i get a really low frame rate...
i dont know why this is as my pc is quite fast...
my specs show this above Smile

i will try tomorrow about utcomp... i seem to remember seeing something about utcomp in one of the errors... i have recieved...
thank you for downgrading.. i will definately try it tomorrow.. as im staying out tonight... Smile

hope we can figure this out between us...

did we have an aimbot on the server lastnight?
someone called doohee came on about 1pm-2pm..
and was like really good... botlike... on a few maps...

i played about 4 games with him.... the 1st map he played
he was there like 3 mins and won with 7 deaths... on trite i think it was...
i played him sandqueen.. i thought he was botting so i did silly things to make him shoot me just a few things that made me think he was using a radar or a aimbot... he was looking forward fighting a guy...
and i trans up behind him.... soo as i come out trans.. behind him..
he spun round real fast and killed me outa trans... he didnt know
i was goingt o trans behind him as he was behind a hill...
also when i spec him a few times i thought he knew where the other player was as he moved around... didnt see the actual player...
yet crouch on a ledge seconds before the player come round the corner pointing exactly in the right place... to kill the player... when i spectated which he knew i was going t do as i sid it... he played barnberner but the super aim was gone... he still won though but it was amore even match... esdf was there who is actually a good player...

might not be but ummm my thoughts was he was.. maybe on and off
not every shot was using the aimbot..
