sods law got me today...
speak and it will happen... grrrr not funny really

i was speaking with bjoern just today....
about my pc cpu being broken and sometimes
overheats if @ 100% usage for long periods of time
well today it happened i was there messing with the
demo editing softwares for ut that bjoern sent me...

i was there messing with it for like 30 mins...
when suddenly my puter goes "bang" seriously
and it shut down for no reason... now it will not
switch back ok so i guess i fried my puter cpu...

which means i cannot afford to buy a new cpu and mobo
for quite a while yet... right now im on a crappy 500mhz

and my income is @ an alltime low of £0

so sorry mates but i prolly wont be on ut
for quite a while... i am sorry...

ill still post here in the forum
and keep in contact as much as possible...
im always on msn... if i am needed for anything..

if my luck changes... i will try and get some new parts
as soon as possible...

cya all soon :/

Did it shut down or just turn off instantly?

You had a look inside the computer yet? Quite often faults can be seen by burn marks. You might find that it was the mobo that broke (happened to me Sad) or possibly it was the PSU. If your computer does nothing at all when you turn it on (no lights etc) then it is probabally a mobo or PSU fault.

I hope that helps you a bit m8 Smile

Good luck getting it sorted m8 and I hope to see you online again soon Smile

cheers sashca,

yeah no lights no nothing... itsa just dead... although my lights on my
mobo come on inside the pc.. you know like ram cpu diodes. :/

but it has no life... for along time now i been having trouble with it over heating.... its my own fault... a few weeks after i bought it i ummm over clocked it bu about 400mhz and it over heated 1 time... since i switch the
overclock off which is about 1 year ago... its never been right since..

ummm also when i installed the cpu onto the board... looll
imma dumb sh** i didnt remove the cpu diodes protective film
so it kinda got melted onto the cpu.... :/ which i think was the start of the problems.. :/

ill endevour to get some new parts asap... :/

*Edit* it went "bang" and shut down instantly..... :/ well not bang.. but umm something made a noise... like a pop! or loud click...

cya soon mate...

hmmm ok

i tried the quick way... i noticed the lil diodes on my mobo
where coming on but flickering with nothing else working...

so today i took a leap of faith and bought a new atx power supply..
after 30 mins tweaking and endless beeps from my pc... i finally got it
to power on... but the cpu temp went straight into the 90's

so off i trott again to my local hardware store and buy a new cpu cooling fan... ummm after installing it my cpu temp now seems stable at 56/60c

doing nothing... before it was on 65c doing nothing... so i guess my problem is kinda fixed and my pc is on.... time will tell i guess how long this last for... although my cpu fan can run @ 2800rpm right now
its only running @ 1300 keeping the cpu at 56/60c so hopefully.. all is
going to be ok... the fan is a temp controlled one... the hotter my cpu
get the faster it spins...

i also noticed since installing the new power supply that my power to my
mobo doesnt fluctuate now... its stable on what it should be... 3.3 i think
with my other power supply it was up n down by a few volts 1 or 2 so maybe this is what was over heating my cpu... unsure though its an educated guess..

also noticed when i powered on that my gfx card fan isnt spinning
and seems very tight... umm so maybe my gfx card is about to explode if used to much :/ time will tell on this also... dunno how long it hasnt been working for :/

so yeah thats it... my pc is operating ok right now...
apart from the gfx card fan... which is a ati 9800 pro :/
hope it holds out for a few weeks... :/

cya all soon

hi arne,

i used a lil bit of heat paste... the white stuff that gets every where... :/

just a lil bit on the diode...

its been running for a few hours now... and it seems ok ...
i been playing ut mostly... and temp never went over 60c...

so maybe the new heatsink/fan and power fixed it.... :/

i should have thought of this stuff ages ago...
but you should never count your chickens before they hatch...

prolly break again tomorrow... noooooooooo Smile
