Hi gavin, i just got myself a new card, its a XFX7950GX2 it was on special offer from here
http://www.videocardshop.co.uk/?source=adwords
it cost less than half the price amazon is selling it for but not sure if they have any left, but it plays UT3 very smoothly
it has a massive 1024MB of onboard memory

Best price/value now: nVidia GeForce 8800 GT, 512 MB (if you can get one), 220 - 250 Euro.
Best card to buy right now (performance): nVidia GeForce 8800 GTS, 512 MB, 320 - 350 Euro.
The GTS is around 10% faster than the GT. Not worth the extra price, so get a GT if possible.
Old GTS (320/640 MB), GTX and Ultra are out of date.
Alternative: ATi Radeon 3750. Should be around 200 Euro. Around 15% slower than the GT.
Have fun and good luck in getting any of them right now

Uhm alex? GTX out of date??? would say a GTX is still faster than a GTS with g92 chip.

The GTX (G80)
- draws 10-20% more power,
- costs 80-100 Euro more,
- has no advanced HD video decoding engine (PV2),
- got a oversized PCB (might need a new PC case),
- is ~10% faster - but only at very high resolutions.
Don't get me wrong: It's still a good graphics chip, but it's a 1+ year old technologie. And looking at the points above, IMHO it's out of date.

thanks clive! will check it out!
hmm.. sorry to be making thsi thread off topic! i have a radeon in at the moment...
wouldn't changing from ati to nvidia mess my pc up?! because of different configurations within the motherboard?! (pc won't be able to work)
it would be best to stick with ati wouldn't it?!
as its a dell dimension and they run off them ..i think anyhow?!
Im just looking for a card that will play ut3 smoothly, and help with rendering on 3d design programs etc
il make a new thread so bjorn doens't go mr.grinch on me!
